VISION

Since 2007 we have served our community by providing high-quality award-winning childcare services. Located in District Heights, Maryland, our educational programs and classes span the ages of 18 months–12 years old with year-round full-time early childhood education to infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Additionally, we partner with families of school-aged children with our award-winning before and after care and summer enrichment programming. Our center supports the whole child approach for teaching and learning. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where the whole child can grow, thrive and chart a path to reach his/her full potential. Guided by the CDC and state and federal governing laws, our center is secure, healthy, safe, and include low teacher-to- student ratios. With an experienced staff, including a combined 60 plus years of experience in childcare, we empower our teachers to be dynamic, compassionate, fun, and informed educators in order to effectively reach and influence the hearts and minds of our students.

ICC’S

educational

philosophy

Play is the work of children.

The safety and overall well-being of each child is our first priority.

The classroom environment should be safe, nurturing and engaging.

Children can be guided to develop self-control by learning to manage their bodies and emotions.

The learning materials that we choose should be developmentally appropriate, open-ended and free of bias.

The curriculum should meet the needs of all learners, including those with special needs and those that speak English as a second language.

Learning experiences should be individualized to each child’s specific needs and development.

The role of the teacher is to be a facilitative guide to help children meet developmentally appropriate milestones through inspired learning.

Teachers and families should work together as partners in both teaching and assessing children.

Children learn best in social settings with hands-on, meaningful and constructive learning experiences.

Learning experiences are most meaningful when the development, experiences, interests and culture of each individual child is taken into consideration.

Learning experiences should be a balance of whole group, small group or individual teacher and child-directed activities.

Children should be assessed on an ongoing basis using a variety of evidence-based methods to determine if they are appropriately meeting curricular objectives.

Our curriculum should address all areas of children’s development: physical, social/emotional, language & communication and cognitive.

Everything we do should have a purpose and be grounded in best practices for early childhood education.

All learning experiences should be aligned to Maryland’s Early Learning & Development Standards to ensure that children are fully prepared for Kindergarten.

childcare

difference

Ideal Childcare Center has a very simple motto: to be the ideal childcare center for your family. Your child is our priority and will be supported by our entire center community, including teachers, administrators, special educators, and artists that will enhance your child’s overall growth and performance. To achieve this loft goal for each and every family enrolled at our center, we know that we must be ideal in all aspects of our service: ideal in the way we care for our employees, in the way we serve our families, in the way we treat and take care of our building and grounds, in the way we partner with our local community, in the way we are fiscally responsible, etc.
